Justin Honey-Jones

AUTHOR OF THE MONTH

Justin Honey-Jones (Certificate in Education (Post Compulsory Education & Training), 2009, ILM Level 5 Certificate in Leadership & Management, 2012 and ILM Level 7 Certificate in Leadership & Management, 2016) is an Emergency Medical Technician with the London Ambulance Service and a former British Army Reserve Combat Medical Technician.

Justin Honey-Jones – First Aid Handbook – alumnus authorJustin’s book is a comprehensive First Aid Handbook which is based on European Resuscitation and UK Resuscitation Councils First Aid Guidelines 2015. This book is one of a series of four first aid manuals Justin has developed for Health and Safety Publications Ltd, and at the time of writing has sold over 25,000 copies since being published in 2018.

During college Justin served for 3 years as a Combat Medical Technician with the British Army Reserves and worked as a support worker with adults with autism and challenging behaviour. After completing his studies at the age of 19 he set up a training company in Swansea delivering first aid training.

Over the next six years he completed various qualifications part time including a Certificate in Education (Post Compulsory Education and Training) . He went on to complete his Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills status (QTLS) and a Master of Arts in Professional Development, Education and Training. He sold his training company in 2012, moved to Hertfordshire and went on to become an education consultant writing qualifications for various awarding organisations including medical and first aid programmes.

In 2014 he joined London Ambulance Service NHS Trust as Emergency Ambulance Crew and a Member of the Special Operations Response Team. He trained at the London Ambulance Service Academy to be a paramedic and qualified in May of 2019.

Justin was contacted by Health and Safety Publication Ltd to write a series of first aid manuals (four in total). In 2017 he was appointed by the Governments Examination Regulator Ofqual to be an External Expert Adviser for first aid qualifications. At the age of 30 he became a published author and to date has sold over 25,000 copies.

Justin also volunteers for the British Heart Foundation delivering Heartstart basic life support courses. In April 2018 he trekked to Mount Everest Base Camp in Nepal to raise awareness around basic life support courses for the public.
